Don't Panic Evaluation

I started off the module wanting to complete a quick one week brief for a don't panic brief just to get my engines started after the summer break. I went back to my hold ways and dithered and made a poster for social that had already been done and better. The constant procrastination on my part eventually evolved this one poster for don't panic into an entirely new brief for me - rants.

I wasted alot of time by doing this and am going to be careful in the future.

I decided later on to produce a small series of don't panic briefs. This was entirely to give me some smaller briefs to occupy my time as i feel its sometimes good to have to have a quick turnaround. The don't panic briefs are something i consider essential for students to participate in simply as a means to get your name out and promote yourself. Nothing more.

I've been edging more towards type this module and the 3 posters i've created since the oil piece follow the same aesthetic, colour and type. What gets the concept across is the words themselves. I have been looking at alot of graffiti recently and KR (the man behind Krink) whose signature style is drips, i wanted to explore this aesthetic in my digital work. After experimenting with type and the drips i want to explore it in a more graffiti way. Perhaps have the type cut out, sprayed and drips added.
I might try abit of it over christmas.

Don't Panic - Fear

The Fear of dots. Figured this was nice looking but too generic and wanted something a little different and more a style what i've been working to recently.

Modern TWO 16 is my new favourite typeface can't get enough of it

The End of the World

Another old Don't Panic brief ' THE END OF THE WORLD'
I wanted to use quotes and illustrative manipulated type for this poster. So Here it is.

Twirl tool - the secret to si scotts success
Bruce Springsteen lyrics
2012 in roman numerals. Not entirely sure which to print.

Values - Don't Panic

Edited the image slightly. I'm digging drips at the moment

Don't Panic

My t-shirts took abit of a tumble as i was unable to print on friday. Still got plenty of time until i start tearing my hair out.
Anyway i decided to run a few quick one day don't panic briefs along side the t-shirts and the bollocks to poverty brief i'm going to do.

This first one is the latest don't panic poster brief around values. I was toying with the idea of marriage and the values you uphold when getting married, then realised i had no interest in marriage whatsoever. for now anyway.

I went with the idea of stuff i value and what i would go that extra mile for.

Tweaks

I've been tweaking the don't panic poster i did. I've come to realise that the way don't panic winners are selected is pure bullshit. As it doesn't work at all. You can tell who has got their friends to boost their ratings. I don't think any of the top 10 would really catch the eye of Shepard Fairey, except one.

Anyway rant over. I made some changes to my design for submission and for print

The coins are vectored and don't look realistic enough compared to the shell logo. I should use a real photo.

Don't Panic

Final Image is missing something that reflects the message i'm trying to say. I think the money underlaying the shell logo is totally off.

Don't Panic...To Be Continued

The theme for the Don't Panic competition is: Social. This worked out well for me as i'm going down a political/social context lately. Even branching into motivational type things. Here's what i got so far. I'm trying to get back into the knack of using design sheets opposed to working solely on my mac.
I took this photo over the summer for a t-shirt i wanted to print for a competition. I'm going to go back and print it, as soon as my loan comes in. Which hopefully is soon. I also had an idea of expanding on that photo and gathering a collection of homeless people holding my sign for a book.
Just a few rough, quick sketches. I wanted to experiment with vector shading and drew influence from Alex Trochut.

Just a quick idea.
I'm all about drips and want to experiment with the vector shading.

Puddle of oil... I think i might make the oil spell out Afghanistan? or something.

Did you know? Shell oil reported a £13.9 billion profit last year.
